Ships Log - October thru December 2009
Well this has been a busy year for our crew. At the end of September the crew congregated at the Conn Renassiance Faire. Seems our Ships Scribe, Mijomuffins has been offered a marrage proposition from Derek and accepted with great joy. Huzzar for our Scribe.
We have all desided to offer Derek a position as ships Lolly boy.
His prime job will be making sure our Scribe stays healthy.
Some of us went to Kate's Yule party on Dec 15th. It was good to see crew from other ship's there as well as all our vendor friends, and other Ren friends. Thank you Kate for having us.
We now have our own forum board on the site. Crew has been having fun with it. Come in and see what we are up to while we are in port.
So this ends the year of our Lord 2009.
2010 proves to be an equality busy one.
Our next adventure will be Birka Market Place at the end of January 2010.
Hope to see you all there.

September 9th, 11th, 16th and 18th
Ships Log: September 9th, 11th, 16th and 18th.
Some of our crew desided to head over to Andover Massachusetts to take the NRA Black Powder Certificaion class. Myself, Greylocke, Tazzy the Pansy Pirate, Sam Handwich, Anni Geturguns McDraggon, Celfig Mclden and Daithi Dubh. We spent 4 evenings listening, learning and reviewing Black Powder safety. We also learned a bit about Mass firearm laws. We all graduated with a patch and a certificate.
Our three instructor's, Bob, Jim and Doc made the class fun and highly informative. Alot of stuff we already practice, but there were a few things we can pass on to our other ship mates that do Black Powder firearms with us in our demostration to make them more safe.
We want to thank the instructors for making us feel like an big part of the class. The class was mostly designed for the mussle loading hunter. They try to keep it with traditional firearms like flintslock and caplock firearms. Todays modern hunter uses and inline rifle. As we found out traditional Black Powder firearms are becoming a dieing art. So we have desided to keep this tradition up as long as we can by bringng it to our faires and introducing everyone to the beauity and history of these fine firearms.
Once again than you Bob, Jim and Doc for making us more safe firearm owners.
Our next adventure coming up is Connecticut Renassaince Faire.

Ships Log: Saturday September 5th
This adventure takes the whole crew to opening day at King Richards located in Carver Massachusetts. Our Master Gunner Tazzy the Pansy Pirate was able to get comp tickets for a crew day at the fair.
We all met at 9:45 in the parking lot. All was met with handshakes and hugs. After getting in our best pirate garb we all gathered at the back of the line plotting our ships raid. We all gathered after the bulk of the crowd and proceeded into the gates. We stopped by and introduced our selves to good King Richard. We were a sight to behold. He was quite impressed at the size of the crew and asked us if we were up to no good mistaken us for pirates. We explained we were privateers and he then ask us if we had letter of marque.
We then did a little soul catching and proceeded to seperate. Not to hard to find our crew though our pins clearly marked us. At Lunch a few crew gathered the food court to grab some grub and a tankard of refreshment. Some of us went and saw the fire dancer and then stayed to see the Ariel Angels preform. Of course the wenches on board ship myself included wanted to shanghi the male angel. Figured he would be a good addition to the rat lines. The "Tale of the Tiger" was there displaying the largest "Liger" in the world. Their show is always ourstanding.
At 3:00 in the afernoon we all met at the Kings Stage. The preformers were the Tortuga Twins. Then we all stayed to see the Kings show "Bit Me" It was pretty funny. The music was great. We all hung arround for a bit afterward for some more souls catching and make some neat memories. At this point some of the crew began heading home. Some of us stayed out in the parking lot with our ships cook Sven and his wife Brandy Whine. Our Navigator desided to pratice his whip and caught the Firstmate Greylocke in the corner of the eye. No damage done.
The day just flew buy. But it always does when good friends and family get together.
Our next adventure will be opening day at CTRF.

Ships Log: Saturday July 25th
Anni Geturguns McDraggon , Celfig Mclden , Greylocke and myself set sail for the Merrimack River Maritime Festival in Salisbury Mass. We met up with Captain Tom Cruddbeard and Bloodthirsty Barbarba of the Dark Rose. We arrived arround 8:00am and help them set up the encampment before putting the finishing touches on ourselves. Later in the day ships Chaplin Daithi Dubh and Ships dancer Wynd joined us at the pirate encampment later in the day.
There were 3 tall ships in the docking area.
The 150-foot Peacemaker , a three-masted barkentine with a hull of Brazilian iron wood. She was built in southern Brazil by an Italian family of boatbuilders, using traditional methods and the finest tropical hardwoods.
The full-rigged Kalmar Nyckel. The original Kalmar Nyckel was one of America's pioneering Colonial ships, with a historical significance rivaling the Mayflower, but Kalmar Nyckel's story has never been widely known.
And the the 55-foot, Must Roos, a gaff square-top yawl is the floating home of the Pirates of the Dark Rose, as swashbuckling, sword-fighting a crew of pirates as ever to be found.
As the day went on we found ourselfs sword fighting with the wee ones and taking part in the minding of the Must Roos as Tom and Barbarba did the afternoon demonstrations. Captain Cruddbeard did a cannon class, demonstrated sword fighting and did a wonderful scene on the dock area of the taking over of the Must Roos.
We all brought our weapons to help in the fight and takover scene but being Massachusetts the state police told us we could not fire them.
All in all the day was fun and relaxing.

Crew party and Memorial Service
On Friday July 3rd we received distressing news. A fellow crew member imp - Ships Master Punner passed away from a heart attack.
imp would have wanted us to continue with the ships party so we did. We decided to dedicate the days festivities in honor our fallen comrade.
Plenty of food and drink. During the day all the flintlocks and cannon came out and we got more crew up to speed on the safety procedures. A few that do not have weapons got to fire and loved it. In true crew tradition we all got in full garb and taped the demo with the normal amount of shooters. We then proceed to the fount of the house and did an all weapons ( total of 15) firing line in memory of our comrade.
The service started with our ships Chaplin saying a few words. It was then followed by a moment of silence. I then called out the command for each shooter to take a step forward in a rolling thunder with all but the blunderbusses. Then in true crew style all three blunderbusses stepped forward for the final salute together. We set off every car alarm in the neighborhood. imp would have loved it. We then had the honor of Captain Maavus T. Merit and his Firstmate sing the "sailors Prayer" as a final good by. Here is some of the service:

imp, May the wind always be at your sails, may the seas always be calm and may your tankard always be full. We will all miss you. -

Ships Log - Saturday June 20th
The crew all met at The New England Pirate Faire put on by Pastimes Enterment.
We did a opening fire at 11:00 welcoming one of the pirate captains rowing in from a Skooner off shore. We the proceeded to welcome Black Dog Mary Steel and Perwinkle the Pirate to our crew by giving the ships docs and raising a tankard of mead provided by Rickkard Von Damage in welcome.
We then proceed to head to the Guild Tent and say Ahoy to our fellow Guild members Lady Reddy and Captain Lord Ruff of the GraveDancer. Off we proceeded to our 2:30 demo. There were 15 flintlockes and muskets on the line and 2 cannons. I took charge of the small arms and Captain Thighbitterwas in carge of the cannons. All went well. The crowd really like it when the Thunder Wenches fired off the Blunderbusses. Out of 15 weapons we had 3 miss fires. Not a bad percentage.
The rest of the day was walking around and chatting with other pirates and privateers.
Sunday was a rainy windy day and only a few of our firing line made it. They braved the winds and rain by doing a cut down version of the demo. Unfortunatelly There was only 5 weapons and 3 missfired because of the weather.
Blackpowder and water not a good combo.
Next adventure: Winslow Farms Ren Faire.

May 2009 - continued
Ships Log: Friday May 15th, Saturday May 16th and Sunday May17th.
Friday: Crew arrived at NHRF site to set up. 12 x 12 Panther and 2 ezy ups were set up. Most of the things needed to set up the hostel were put in place. Black Powder tent also in place. Exhausting day for all.
Saturday: First day of faire. All weapons arrived and were placed in BP tent. The rest of set up finished and the crew got ready for opening. Cannon was being readyed for opening shot while the rest of use loaded small arms and headed to the frount gate. We did a ships raid with will Black Powder Volley. Turned a lot of heads. Crew then goes over to meet the queen and gets heckled by the sherriff. Of course crew heckles back. We tell the queen about our mission and head back to our encampment to ready for our demo.
First demo went well. Crew enjoyed firing their weapons and getting into their parts. Hostal tent full of food and plenty of space to sit and relax. Tazzy made her rum balls and I think they were quite popular. Alot of staggering after everyone ate those.
At second demo we must have had 3/4 of the paytons there. Crew ran with it and did an awesome job. As always.
After demo we headed over to the main field and tell the queen we have found the Highway Man Black Jock, Black Jock Strop. He turned out to be the sherriff. Our brutt squad had a great time ruffing up the sherriff. He did not expect us to be so enthusiastic.
Sunday: Much the same as Saturday except our last demo went the best of all. Hector decided to tell pirate jokes to the captain and the Sam joined in. The crowd really responded great. I think we will do that all the time. Adds alot to personality of the crew.
The capture of the sherriff was even funnier on this day. Got change completly to involved one of his minions trying to frame him. But we still shackled him and brought him cross the grounds to be trialed in England.
Break down went quick. When our crew works together they are one hell of a team!!! Everything packed up before 6:00. Crismon, Cherly, Phelan and Lord Charles headed to port o Hudson for some grub with the captain.
We do have the BEST crew in the Guilds. Huzzar!!!!

Ships Log - Saturday May 2nd 2009
The crew got together for out Black powder Rehersal for NHRF at the faire site. About 3/4 of our mates showed. Safety was covered. All that needed to be taught to load and fire did. Very educational day for all.
When everyone was comfortable with the weapons we proceeded to do a full rehersal with everyone there so we could work out the bugs. Went quite well. Suggestions were made and implimeted. I feel quite comfortable that I can hand anyone a weapon and tell them they are on the line.
Our core shooters are - Phelan, Tazzy, Sam, Lord Charles, Lizzy, Hector the protector Greylocke and myself. There will always be extra postions open on the firing line and as powder monkey for any of our crew to take part. It was good to see everyone and everyone got reaquainted. Its was like we see each other everyday.
We did have a promotion on board. Crimson Pirate has stepped down as Quartermaster to resume the navagators position. Our new Quartermaster is now Lord Charles. Huzzar!!!
Our next adventure is NHRF.

Ships Log: October 2008
October was a great month for our crew. We are at home base at the New Hampshire Renassiance Faire. We host the Guild Hostal and do our large black powder demostration.
We also are allowed to play and cause a bit of trouble. This year we handed out our first Kings pardon to our Ships Punster imp. Caused a wee bit of excitment because he jumped ship from a pirate ship. The captain of the other ship was very gracious because they shanghied one of our crew earlier in the year.
All went very well and the faire was a smash. We also had the honor of doing the final cannon bast of the faire season. All went well with a broad side done by Sir Charles of the Flying Drangon and Myself. It was a real ground shaker.
We had one of youngest crew play the part of a thief to help add color to the faire.
This years NHRF is on May 16th and 17th and the crew is very excited because this year we have the honor of the first faire of the season.
